Elements and Principles

http://s1289.photobucket.com/user/sabretooth10/slideshow/Photographic%20Art

Above is the link for my slideshow for my photographic art creation project. In order to fully view each photo I would suggest you use full screen viewing. I found this project quite easy to accomplish since I know I have taken some decent pictures along the way. All of these photos which the exception of my Frankenstein picture for texture, all of the photos were taken on my trip to Europe. They are of beautiful flowers and stunning architecture captured by the marvelous picture taking techniques that I used when I went earlier this year. Although I did want to take new pictures for this project, I found a lot of my Europe pictures fitting the bill of what was required. I also wanted to have good imagery in my pictures as I fulfilled the Elements and Principles for this project so instead of taking new pictures with any old object to fit the requirements, I went with what I captured in Europe, Greece and Italy to be more precise. The only other reason I allowed myself to use recent pictures that I didn't take specifically for this project is that in some examples the pictures were not just recent or of close places. Even though my journey for this project may seem like I just looked at old pictures to see which ones fit, you will see that these pictures, if anything, were taken for this project and I just didn't know it at that time.

  1. You have some breathtaking pictures within your slideshow! I think you made the right decision by using old pictures from Europe to express the elements and principles of design. Where else would be better to capture all of them then in a place where art flourished in the past. Your pictures are more than just objects expressing the elements and principles, they have a deep history running through them. I very much enjoyed looking at your slideshow I thought every picture, even the Frankenstein, were beautiful.

  2. I was truly impressed with the all the photos you have taken of structures showing the beauty of Europe. The unity was really a nice and could have been used for the balance element as well.

  3. Brian-
Your photographs were beautiful. I think they fit the elements and principles perfectly. My favorites and why:
Color- the contrasting colors of red and yellow on the green leafy background made the colors pop.

Movement- The water felt like it was spraying out of the fountains mouth and aiming right at me.

Unity- the reflective properties in this photographs brings the whole picture together and was amazing.

Contrast- showed the perfect combination of different shades of gray, black and white.

Shape- this photograph was very unique and has a few different examples of shape. The entire picture, the opening at the top, and the circles on the walls.

Value- Using this landscape was perfect for showing value and also beautiful.
